Café builds its door ice maker into a compartment on the inside of the left door on bottom-freezer models, and sells 15-inch panel-ready undercounter ice makers in clear-ice and nugget versions. The undercounter units speak through a few control lights, and most of their calls come back to water in, water out and scale. Café's ice comes from door ice makers in its French door and bottom-freezer models and from the UCC15 clear-ice and UNC15 nugget panel-ready undercounter units. The undercounter models share one light scheme, so a pattern on one reads the same on the other. ### Clear ice depends on clean plates Café's clear-ice manual links cubes that are not fully formed to scale on the ice-making system. A cleaning cycle with the cleaner poured in when Time to Clean starts flashing is the owner's fix, and it often restores full cubes. ### Two lights that trade places When Making Ice and Filter flash one after the other, the undercounter unit is short of water. The clear-ice manual adds the filter itself to the list of suspects, alongside the supply valve and a kinked line. ### Drain problems show up in the bin Café lists water backing up into the ice bin when the drain tubing is kinked. Gravity-drain units can be converted with a drain pump kit when no floor drain is nearby. ### A room it likes Café says its undercounter ice makers work best in rooms between 60 and 90°F. A unit in a hot bar area or an unheated space makes less ice without anything being broken. Parts Undercounter ice maker parts such as the water pump, inlet valve and drain pump kit are matched to the model and ice type. Door ice maker parts are listed by the refrigerator model. Repair or replace A panel-ready undercounter unit is fitted into custom cabinetry, so repair is usually the better path when one part fails. A unit whose sealed system has failed outside its early years is the case to weigh replacement. Book your Café visit ## What we are called out for. Café's manual points to scale on the ice-making system. Run the cleaning process; if cubes stay incomplete afterward, book a visit. ### Why is water backing up into my Café ice bin? Café lists kinked drain tubing as the cause. Use tubing that does not kink, and check the drain path behind the unit. ### Can a gravity-drain Café undercounter unit get a drain pump? Yes. The manual describes a drain pump kit that converts a gravity-drain model, with the pump, harness and tubing included. ### Where is the ice maker on a Café French door model? On models with in-door ice it is in a compartment on the inside of the left door, behind its own small door. --- **[Read on the site: Café Ice Maker Repair | IceMakerRepair.center](https://icemakerrepair.center/brands/cafe/)** **[Book a visit with IceMakerRepair.center](https://icemakerrepair.center/schedule/)**
