Café refrigerators with electronic dispenser controls use GE Appliances' shared code list, and CI there reads as an instruction to check the ice maker for proper operation. On Café models with the ice box in the left door, that is the unit behind the small inner door. Café ice maker display What to do when CI shows on the ice maker ### Kind of code Ice making and harvest The ice maker froze a batch and could not release it, or the harvest never started: the ejector arm or the twisting tray stalled, the mold heater did not loosen the cubes, or the arm that senses a full bin reported the wrong thing. Ice jammed against the arm and a bin pushed in crooked are cleared first; a motor module or a whole ice maker assembly comes after. ### Usually leads to Ice maker assembly replacement A new ice maker module fitted in the freezer compartment or the door compartment, after the water, the temperature and the bin sensor have been proved good, so the new part is not blamed for an old problem. ### Shows up as No Ice Coming From the Ice Maker The mold sits empty or holds one frozen batch that never drops, the bin stays bare for days, and the dispenser gives water as usual: an ice maker not making ice while the rest of the appliance carries on normally. ### Make Café Service for Café ice makers, covering the dispenser, the bin and the water supply behind them. ### Source GE Appliances support: refrigerator error and function code list (contentId 16912) Café models with electronic dispenser controls. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from Café's own guidance for CI on its ice makers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Open the ice box door on the inside of the left door and look at the bucket and the ice maker above it. 02 Clear any clumped ice from the bucket and confirm the ice maker switch is on. 03 Unplug the refrigerator for a minute or two to reset the panel, then check for fresh cubes the next day. 04 Book a visit if CI returns. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice maker assembly replacement](https://icemakerrepair.center/services/ice-maker-assembly-replacement/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do CI is not a door alarm or a cooling alert. It concerns only the ice maker, and it does not identify whether the fill or the harvest has stopped. ## What you may notice with it. The ice maker problems CI tends to arrive with. Open the ice box door on the inside of the left door and look at the bucket and the ice maker above it. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Where is the ice maker on a Café that shows CI? On Café models with in-door ice it sits in a compartment on the inside of the left door, behind a small door of its own. Some models also have one in the freezer. ### Does CI on a Café clear by itself? A short power reset sometimes clears it. If it comes back, the ice maker has a real problem to find. ### Can clumped ice in the bucket lead to CI on a Café? Clumps can jam the bucket and stop dispensing, and a jammed ejector stops production. Emptying and breaking up the ice is a sensible first step before a visit. --- **[Read on the site: Café CI on the dispenser panel | IceMakerRepair.center](https://icemakerrepair.center/error-codes/cafe-ci/)** **[Book a visit with IceMakerRepair.center](https://icemakerrepair.center/schedule/)**
