GE Profile models with electronic dispenser controls share GE Appliances' code list, where CI asks you to check the ice maker for proper operation. It points at the ice maker, which on Profile French door models may sit in the door and in the freezer. GE Profile ice maker display What to do when CI shows on the ice maker ### Kind of code Ice making and harvest The ice maker froze a batch and could not release it, or the harvest never started: the ejector arm or the twisting tray stalled, the mold heater did not loosen the cubes, or the arm that senses a full bin reported the wrong thing. Ice jammed against the arm and a bin pushed in crooked are cleared first; a motor module or a whole ice maker assembly comes after. ### Usually leads to Ice maker assembly replacement A new ice maker module fitted in the freezer compartment or the door compartment, after the water, the temperature and the bin sensor have been proved good, so the new part is not blamed for an old problem. ### Shows up as No Ice Coming From the Ice Maker The mold sits empty or holds one frozen batch that never drops, the bin stays bare for days, and the dispenser gives water as usual: an ice maker not making ice while the rest of the appliance carries on normally. ### Make GE Profile GE Profile ice maker repair, including the countertop nugget ice makers that run from a reservoir instead of a water line. ### Source GE Appliances support: refrigerator error and function code list (contentId 16912) GE Profile models with electronic dispenser controls; GE's code page covers its brands with this style of display. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from GE Profile's own guidance for CI on its ice makers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Check each ice maker the model has: the door unit behind the dispenser and, on some models, the one in the freezer. 02 Press the Ice Maker button on the top panel to confirm ice making is switched on. 03 Unplug the unit for a minute or two to reset the control, then watch for new cubes over the next day. 04 If CI returns or the bin stays empty, book a visit. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice maker assembly replacement](https://icemakerrepair.center/services/ice-maker-assembly-replacement/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do CI is not a temperature alarm or a power note; FF and PF cover those. It also does not tell you which of two ice makers is the problem on a dual-ice model, so both are checked. ## What you may notice with it. The ice maker problems CI tends to arrive with. Check each ice maker the model has: the door unit behind the dispenser and, on some models, the one in the freezer. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Could CI show on a GE Profile just because the ice maker was switched off? It is worth ruling out. Profile top panels have an Ice Maker button that turns ice making on and off, and an ice maker that is off will not fill the bin. ### My GE Profile has two ice makers; which one does CI mean? The code does not say. A technician checks the door ice maker and the freezer one separately. ### Will a GE Profile keep cooling while CI is showing? Yes. CI concerns ice, so the fresh food and freezer sections keep cooling. The code is about the ice maker only. --- **[Read on the site: GE Profile CI prompt on the control panel](https://icemakerrepair.center/error-codes/ge-profile-ci/)** **[Book a visit with IceMakerRepair.center](https://icemakerrepair.center/schedule/)**
