LG reports EIU when the ice maker assembly in the freezer compartment has failed. The freezer ice maker stops filling or releasing ice while the rest of the unit keeps running. LG ice maker display What to do when EIU shows on the ice maker ### Kind of code Ice making and harvest The ice maker froze a batch and could not release it, or the harvest never started: the ejector arm or the twisting tray stalled, the mold heater did not loosen the cubes, or the arm that senses a full bin reported the wrong thing. Ice jammed against the arm and a bin pushed in crooked are cleared first; a motor module or a whole ice maker assembly comes after. ### Usually leads to Ice maker assembly replacement A new ice maker module fitted in the freezer compartment or the door compartment, after the water, the temperature and the bin sensor have been proved good, so the new part is not blamed for an old problem. ### Shows up as No Ice Coming From the Ice Maker The mold sits empty or holds one frozen batch that never drops, the bin stays bare for days, and the dispenser gives water as usual: an ice maker not making ice while the rest of the appliance carries on normally. ### Make LG LG ice maker repair, from a door ice maker that frosts over to a dispenser that stops. ### Source LG error code list (Wayback, 17 Jan 2025) LG models with an ice maker in the freezer compartment. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from LG's own guidance for EIU on its ice makers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Pull out the freezer ice bin and check for ice jammed in the mold or the chute. 02 Reset power once by unplugging the unit for a minute. 03 If EIU returns, book a visit; LG lists no owner steps. ### Still there? It usually turns into [ice maker assembly replacement](https://icemakerrepair.center/services/ice-maker-assembly-replacement/). Book with the code and the model number. ### What not to do EIU is not about the sensor on the freezer ice maker; LG uses EID for that. It does not concern the ice maker in the fresh food door. ## What you may notice with it. The ice maker problems EIU tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice maker before anyone is booked. Pull out the freezer ice bin and check for ice jammed in the mold or the chute. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### What is the difference between EID and EIU on an LG? LG uses EID for the freezer ice maker's sensor and EIU for the ice maker assembly itself. The second usually means the assembly is replaced. ### Does EIU on my LG affect the door dispenser? The door ice maker keeps working. Only the ice from the freezer compartment ice maker stops. ### Can a jammed mold cause EIU on an LG? LG does not name a jam, but clearing one is harmless. If the code stays, the assembly needs testing. --- **[Read on the site: LG EIU: the freezer compartment ice maker assembly](https://icemakerrepair.center/error-codes/lg-eiu/)** **[Book a visit with IceMakerRepair.center](https://icemakerrepair.center/schedule/)**
