LG uses IF, or F1 on some displays, for a problem with the ice maker fan. The usual trigger is frost or ice around that fan, which stops it from turning and leaves the ice compartment too warm to make ice. A door ice maker depends on that air, carried to the door through a duct, so when the fan quits the ice compartment warms and cubes melt and refreeze into clumps.
