After ORDER WATER FILTER, a Monogram column switches to FILTER EXPIRED once the cartridge reaches 100 percent of its life. The ice maker in a freezer column keeps using the old cartridge until it is replaced or the bypass plug is fitted. Monogram ice maker display What to do when FILTER EXPIRED shows on the ice maker ### Kind of code Water supply and fill The ice maker asked for water and got too little, too slowly or none at all, or water kept arriving after the fill should have ended. A closed shutoff, a kinked line, a clogged filter and low house pressure are ruled out before the water inlet valve is replaced or the fill tube is thawed. If water is on the floor, close the supply valve before reading anything on the display. ### Usually leads to Ice maker water inlet valve repair The electric valve that lets water into the ice maker, tested and replaced when it will not open, opens only partway, or keeps dripping after it should have closed. ### Shows up as Ice Tastes or Smells Bad The ice tastes bad or smells stale, musty, of plastic or of whatever else is in the freezer, even though a glass of tap water tastes fine. ### Make Monogram Monogram ice maker service, built-in and undercounter, including drain and cleaning work. ### Source Monogram built-in column owner's manual 49-1000529 Monogram built-in column refrigerators and freezers (owner's manual 49-1000529). ## Before you book, in this order. Replace the cartridge, turning the old one a quarter turn counterclockwise to remove it. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why is the first bin of ice odd after a filter change on a Monogram freezer column? Air trapped in the system spurts water into the ice maker; the manual says the first bin may be misshapen or discolored and should be discarded. ### Can a Monogram freezer column make ice without a filter? Only with the bypass plug installed. The icemaker will not operate without either the filter or the plug. ### What if FILTER EXPIRED stays after the new filter on my Monogram? Hold the + key for three seconds to reset. If the message still shows, book a visit. --- **[Read on the site: Monogram column showing FILTER EXPIRED](https://icemakerrepair.center/error-codes/monogram-filter-expired/)** **[Book a visit with IceMakerRepair.center](https://icemakerrepair.center/schedule/)**
