--- title: "SKS showing sb with the ice maker stopped" description: "What sb means on SKSs, what to check before booking, and when it is not a failure at all." url: "https://icemakerrepair.center/error-codes/sks-sb/" --- # SKS showing sb sb on the display means the SKS unit is in Sabbath mode. ## What sb actually means. sb on the display means the SKS unit is in Sabbath mode. SKS switches off the lights and alarms in this mode and, on the column freezers, disables the ice maker as well; on door-dispenser and 48-inch models the dispenser is disabled too. SKS ice maker display What to do when sb shows on the ice maker ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure Something the ice maker was switched into, often without anyone noticing, rather than something that broke: ice turned off from the panel or by the wire arm lifted while reaching into the bin, a control lock, a Sabbath setting, a cleaning cycle still running, a reminder that the water filter is due. No part has worn out, and the ice maker's own buttons or arm put it right. ### Usually leads to No repair Wake the display, then hold the same pair of buttons used to start Sabbath mode for three seconds (Freezer and POWER on the column freezer, Freezer and Wi-Fi on the counter-depth French door). ### Shows up as No Ice Coming From the Ice Maker The mold sits empty or holds one frozen batch that never drops, the bin stays bare for days, and the dispenser gives water as usual: an ice maker not making ice while the rest of the appliance carries on normally. ### Make SKS SKS ice maker repair, working from the rating plate and the water supply of a built-in installation. ### Source SKS integrated column freezer owner's manual (sksappliances.com PDF) Column freezers (Freezer + POWER), SKSFD3623SD (Freezer + Wi-Fi) and the SKSFD4826 series, where the dispenser and ice maker are both disabled in Sabbath mode on applicable models. ## Before you book, in this order. Each step comes from SKS's own guidance for sb on its ice makers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit. 01 Wake the display, then hold the same pair of buttons used to start Sabbath mode for three seconds (Freezer and POWER on the column freezer, Freezer and Wi-Fi on the counter-depth French door). 02 Check that sb has gone and the ice maker's own setting is on. 03 Wait for the first batch; Sabbath mode also ends on its own after 96 hours. ### Cleared? The ice maker is filling and dropping cubes again and no part was needed. If the same code returns during the next harvest, or water shows up on the floor again, book it as a new problem. ### What not to do sb is not a code for a failed part and it does not mean the ice maker lost water. It is a religious observance setting that SKS designed to pause ice and alarms on purpose. ## What you may notice with it. The ice maker problems sb tends to arrive with. Wake the display, then hold the same pair of buttons used to start Sabbath mode for three seconds (Freezer and POWER on the column freezer, Freezer and Wi-Fi on the counter-depth French door). ### Why did my SKS stop making ice over the weekend and show sb? Sabbath mode was switched on, and on SKS column freezers it disables the ice maker along with the lights and alarms. Turn it off with the same button pair or wait for it to end by itself after 96 hours. ### Does SKS Sabbath mode come back on after a power cut? Yes. SKS says the column freezer keeps Sabbath mode through a power outage, so sb can still be on the display after the power returns. ### Can I get ice from the door while an SKS shows sb? Not on models where SKS disables the dispenser in Sabbath mode, such as the 48-inch French door series and the counter-depth model. Ice already in the bin stays there until the mode ends. --- **[Read on the site: SKS showing sb with the ice maker stopped](https://icemakerrepair.center/error-codes/sks-sb/)** **[Book a visit with IceMakerRepair.center](https://icemakerrepair.center/schedule/)**
