A flashing water filter symbol on a Thermador tells you the filter is old and should be replaced. On certain models it keeps flashing after a new filter goes in until you activate the filter with a button combination on the panel. Thermador ice maker display What to do when Water Filter Symbol flashing shows on the ice maker ### Kind of code Mode, not a failure Something the ice maker was switched into, often without anyone noticing, rather than something that broke: ice turned off from the panel or by the wire arm lifted while reaching into the bin, a control lock, a Sabbath setting, a cleaning cycle still running, a reminder that the water filter is due. No part has worn out, and the ice maker's own buttons or arm put it right. ### Usually leads to No repair Replace the filter and turn it fully so the lines on the cap line up with the compartment. ### Shows up as Ice Maker Light Flashing An ice maker light flashing where it used to glow steadily: a blinking power or ice light, a flashing clean or descale symbol, an add-water light, or a status light on the ice maker itself. ### Make Thermador Thermador ice maker repair, planned around a built-in installation and its hidden water line. ### Source Thermador refrigeration troubleshooting Thermador models with a water filter and panel symbol; the button combination varies by model. ## Before you book, in this order. Replace the filter and turn it fully so the lines on the cap line up with the compartment. ### Why does the Thermador filter symbol still flash after I put in a new filter? Some models only accept a new filter after a three-second press of LIGHT / FILTER or SUPER COOL together with ICE. Also check that the filter is turned fully home. ### Should I throw away ice after a Thermador filter change? Thermador's freezer column manual says to discard the ice made in the first 24 hours after a new filter or bypass cartridge goes in. ### Can I run a Thermador ice maker without a filter? Thermador's column manual allows a bypass cartridge when an outside filter system treats the house water. In that case you switch the water filter counter off. --- **[Read on the site: Thermador Water Filter Symbol flashing on a column or drawer](https://icemakerrepair.center/error-codes/thermador-water-filter-symbol-flashing/)** **[Book a visit with IceMakerRepair.center](https://icemakerrepair.center/schedule/)**
