Whirlpool's freestanding ice makers have a Service light that turns on when the control decides service is needed. The one owner step Whirlpool gives is to switch the unit off and back on; if the light returns, it needs a technician. Whirlpool ice maker display What to do when Service light shows on the ice maker ### Kind of code Control board and communication The boards that run the ice maker stopped hearing each other, or one of them failed: the main control lost contact with the dispenser panel or the ice maker module, or a board reported an electrical problem of its own. Water that dripped onto a connector and a loose harness are checked before a board is ordered by model number. If the ice maker keeps tripping the breaker, leave it off until the visit. ### Usually leads to Ice maker control and sensor repair The control board, the thermistors, the bin sensor and the wiring that decide when an ice maker fills, freezes and stops, tested and repaired when a light flashes, a code shows, a breaker trips or the ice never stops coming. ### Shows up as No Ice Coming From the Ice Maker The mold sits empty or holds one frozen batch that never drops, the bin stays bare for days, and the dispenser gives water as usual: an ice maker not making ice while the rest of the appliance carries on normally. ### Make Whirlpool Whirlpool ice maker repair for the ice makers most kitchens actually have. ### Source Whirlpool Product Help: Service Light On - Freestanding Ice Maker Whirlpool freestanding (built-in or undercounter) ice makers covered by its Product Help pages. ## Before you book, in this order.
