Teardown-and-rebuild streets where a built-in ice maker arrived with the new house, and households who draw from it daily want to know why the cubes turned small the summer after a storm cut power and shook the water pressure. ## What West University does to an ice maker. Ben Hooper, who had been governor of Tennessee, started developing West University Place in 1917. Houston's reluctance to run electric lines so far out was the reason the town incorporated. The Poor Farm Ditch, which drains into Brays Bayou, was dredged in 1928 after heavy flooding and given a concrete bottom and sides by the Harris County Flood Control District in 1954. After development rules were loosened, mid-20th-century bungalows and cottages gave way to new houses until the city ran out of available lots. Also known as West University Place. [All of Houston](https://icemakerrepair.center/locations/houston/) ### Family houses In a family house children use the door dispenser many times a day, and a chute flap that no longer closes lets warm kitchen air into the ice path, so ice freezes inside the chute and the dispenser jams until the flap and its seal are put right. ### Mixed housing Tenants in older rentals often live with an ice maker the landlord bought secondhand, and one missing its filter bypass plug, or fitted with a generic cartridge that does not seat, can leak into the filter housing and down the front of the cabinet. ### Small kitchens and bars In a small kitchen the ice maker's water line is coiled into a very shallow gap, and each time the unit is rolled out to mop behind it that coil can fold, so a door ice maker that fills slowly after a cleaning day is checked at its tube first. ## A visit in West University.
