Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 773-0701

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from LG's own guidance for IF on its ice makers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Unplug the unit, empty the ice bin and leave the doors open for at least 8 hours with towels in place, as LG describes.

02

Dry the inside, plug it back in and allow 24 to 48 hours to return to normal.

03

Check that the doors close fully and the cabinet is level; book a visit if IF comes back.

Still there?

It usually turns into diagnostic visit. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

IF does not concern the main freezer fan, which LG reports as FF. It is also not a water supply code, so a filter change will not clear it.

What you may
notice with it.

The ice maker problems IF tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice maker before anyone is booked.

In LG's own words

The IF or F1 error code indicates that the refrigerator has detected a problem with the refrigerator's ice maker fan.

Questions
about IF.

Can I clear IF myself?
Unplug the unit, empty the ice bin and leave the doors open for at least 8 hours with towels in place, as LG describes. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does the IF code keep returning on my LG after a defrost?
LG points to frost around the ice maker fan. If it returns, something is letting moist air in, such as a torn French door gasket or doors out of alignment, and that needs checking.
Is F1 on my LG the same as IF?
LG lists IF and F1 under the same ice maker fan meaning. The characters depend on the display.
How long does an LG need after a manual defrost for the IF code?
LG says about 8 hours with the doors open, then 24 to 48 hours after plugging back in for normal operation.

Still showing IF?

Book with the code or the blink pattern written exactly as the ice maker shows it, the full model number, and whether there is any water on the floor — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
