LG uses EID for a failure of the freezer compartment ice maker sensor. On LG models with a second ice maker in the freezer, such as the Craft Ice maker, that sensor tells the control when the ice is ready to release.

The control lost track of how cold the ice mold or the ice compartment is, because a thermistor reads nonsense or its wire lost contact. Without that reading the ice maker cannot tell when a batch is frozen, so it stops or harvests at the wrong time. Frost packed around the sensor and a loose plug are checked before the sensor itself is changed.
