Samsung 14E: a sensor on the door ice maker

Samsung lists 14E as an ice maker sensor problem, separate from the freezer ice maker's 8E.

Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 773-0701

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Samsung's own guidance for 14E on its ice makers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Look at the ice maker tray: full, frozen cubes that are not dropping fit this code.

02

Reset power at the breaker for a minute and watch whether 14E comes back.

03

If the code returns or no new ice is made within a day, book a visit.

Still there?

It usually turns into ice maker control and sensor repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

14E is not a water supply problem, so a new filter or a longer valve opening will not clear it. It is also not about the freezer ice maker, which Samsung reports as 8E.

What you may
notice with it.

The ice maker problems 14E tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice maker before anyone is booked.

Questions
about 14E.

Can I clear 14E myself?
Look at the ice maker tray: full, frozen cubes that are not dropping fit this code. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why is my Samsung ice tray full of frozen cubes with 14E on the display?
The ice maker relies on its sensor to know the cubes are ready. With 14E showing it cannot confirm that, so it holds the frozen batch in the tray instead of harvesting.
How is Samsung 14E different from 8E?
Samsung names 8E for the freezer ice maker's sensor and 14E for the ice maker sensor without that label. On models with an in-door ice maker, 14E is the one to expect.
Will defrosting clear 14E on a Samsung?
A power reset is worth trying, but Samsung describes 14E as a sensor problem rather than a frost problem. If it returns, the sensor or its connector needs testing.

Still showing 14E?

Book with the code or the blink pattern written exactly as the ice maker shows it, the full model number, and whether there is any water on the floor — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
