actually means.

On Viking's FNIU515D, a blinking DRAIN lamp is Er16, the water drain error: after the drain valve operated, the lower water level sensor was not reached within 2 minutes. The unit resets after 5 minutes; the drain pump must also be able to push water out through its line.

What to do when Er16 shows on the ice maker

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Viking's own guidance for Er16 on its ice makers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check the drain line from the pump for kinks, sags or a blocked outlet.

02

Look inside the bin and under the unit for water; close the supply valve if any is escaping.

03

If the lamp keeps blinking after the reset, book a visit to test the drain valve and level sensor.

Questions
about Er16.

Can I clear Er16 myself?
Check the drain line from the pump for kinks, sags or a blocked outlet. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Is a steady DRAIN lamp on my Viking a problem?
No. A steady DRAIN lamp just shows the drain valve is working. It is the blinking lamp that signals Er16.
What should I check first for Er16 on a Viking nugget ice maker?
The drain line. A kink, a low spot that holds water or a clogged outlet can keep the reservoir from emptying in time.
Can Er16 on a Viking lead to water on the floor?
It can if the reservoir keeps filling while the drain is slow. Check the bin and the floor, and turn off the water if anything is overflowing.

Still showing Er16?

Book with the code or the blink pattern written exactly as the ice maker shows it, the full model number, and whether there is any water on the floor — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
