Three short steps, about a minute.

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Viking's own guidance for Time to Clean light on on its ice makers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Follow the cleaning section of the Use & Care guide, which starts by holding the Clean-Reset and On/Off buttons for 5 seconds.

02

Let the cleaning run finish before switching the unit back to ice making.

03

If the light stays on after a full cleaning, book a visit.

Cleared?

The ice maker is filling and dropping cubes again and no part was needed. If the same code returns during the next harvest, or water shows up on the floor again, book it as a new problem.

What not to do

The Time to Clean light does not mean the ice maker has stopped. The unit keeps making ice, but scale builds up the longer cleaning waits.

What you may
notice with it.

The ice maker problems Time to Clean light on tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice maker before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Something the ice maker was switched into, often without anyone noticing, rather than something that broke: ice turned off from the panel or by the wire arm lifted while reaching into the bin, a control lock, a Sabbath setting, a cleaning cycle still running, a reminder that the water filter is due. No part has worn out, and the ice maker's own buttons or arm put it right.

Questions
about Time to Clean light on.

Can I clear Time to Clean light on myself?
Follow the cleaning section of the Use & Care guide, which starts by holding the Clean-Reset and On/Off buttons for 5 seconds.
How often does a Viking 15-inch ice maker need cleaning?
The guide recommends at least once a year and preferably twice, and more often with hard water. The Time to Clean light comes on every six months as a reminder.
Why does the Time to Clean light blink during cleaning on my Viking?
Holding Clean-Reset and On/Off starts the clean mode, and the light blinks while the unit is in it. It goes steady again as the cycle moves on.
Can skipping the cleaning cause thin cubes on a Viking?
Yes. The troubleshooting guide's first fix for incompletely formed cubes is to clean the ice making system.

Still showing Time to Clean light on?

Book with the code or the blink pattern written exactly as the ice maker shows it, the full model number, and whether there is any water on the floor — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
