Three short steps, about a minute.

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from GE Profile's own guidance for Add Water on its ice makers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Remove the ice bin and fill the reservoir with drinking water up to the Max Fill line.

02

If you use the side tank, check it is full, seated flush with the front of the Opal and on the same level surface.

03

Straighten the tube between the side tank and the Opal so air bubbles cannot block the flow.

04

If Add Water stays highlighted with a full reservoir, book a visit.

What not to do

Add Water is not a sign of a leak or a failed pump in itself. It is a level reading, so a full reservoir that still shows the message is the case worth a visit.

What you may
notice with it.

Questions
about Add Water.

Can I clear Add Water myself?
Remove the ice bin and fill the reservoir with drinking water up to the Max Fill line. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does my Opal say Add Water when the side tank is full?
Water may not be flowing from the tank. GE's manual says bubbles can form in the connecting tube when it is not lying flat, so adjust the tube until water moves.
What water should go in an Opal reservoir?
Drinking water only, filled to the Max Fill line. GE also says the water hardness must be less than 12 grains per gallon.
Does the Opal need a water line to stop the Add Water message?
No. The Opal runs from its reservoir or the optional side tank, so keeping those filled is what clears the message.

Book with the code or the blink pattern written exactly as the ice maker shows it, the full model number, and whether there is any water on the floor — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
