Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 773-0701

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from GE Profile's own guidance for Yellow front button on its ice makers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Find the switch on the back of the Opal.

02

Slide it to ICE; the unit then starts making ice.

03

Expect about five minutes of flushing with the button white before ice appears.

04

If the button stays yellow with the switch on ICE, book a visit.

Cleared?

The ice maker is filling and dropping cubes again and no part was needed. If the same code returns during the next harvest, or water shows up on the floor again, book it as a new problem.

What not to do

A yellow button is not a warning that the Opal is failing. It only reports which position the back switch is in.

What you may
notice with it.

The ice maker problems Yellow front button tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice maker before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Something the ice maker was switched into, often without anyone noticing, rather than something that broke: ice turned off from the panel or by the wire arm lifted while reaching into the bin, a control lock, a Sabbath setting, a cleaning cycle still running, a reminder that the water filter is due. No part has worn out, and the ice maker's own buttons or arm put it right.

In GE Profile's own words

If the button on the front is yellow, the Opal is set in the cleaning mode and will not produce ice.

Questions
about Yellow front button.

Can I clear Yellow front button myself?
Find the switch on the back of the Opal.
Why is the button on my first-generation Opal yellow?
The back switch is set to cleaning mode. Slide it to ICE and the unit will start its ice cycle.
What does a white button mean on an original Opal?
White means it is going into ice making; GE says it flushes with water for about five minutes first, so you may hear water running.
My original Opal still makes no ice after I move the switch; what now?
Check the ice bin is pushed fully in, then GE suggests unplugging the unit for 3 to 4 hours. If that does not help, book a visit.

Still showing Yellow front button?

Book with the code or the blink pattern written exactly as the ice maker shows it, the full model number, and whether there is any water on the floor — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
