Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 773-0701

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from KitchenAid's own guidance for HOL on its ice makers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Press and hold ICE, LIGHT and LOCKOUT together for 3 seconds to turn Holiday Mode off.

02

Try the ice dispenser again.

03

If ice still does not dispense, check the ice maker's wire shutoff arm is down.

04

If the levers still do nothing with Holiday Mode off, book a visit.

Cleared?

The ice maker is filling and dropping cubes again and no part was needed. If the same code returns during the next harvest, or water shows up on the floor again, book it as a new problem.

What not to do

HOL is not a dispenser failure. It is a setting that blocks the levers until it is switched off.

What you may
notice with it.

The ice maker problems HOL tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice maker before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Something the ice maker was switched into, often without anyone noticing, rather than something that broke: ice turned off from the panel or by the wire arm lifted while reaching into the bin, a control lock, a Sabbath setting, a cleaning cycle still running, a reminder that the water filter is due. No part has worn out, and the ice maker's own buttons or arm put it right.

In KitchenAid's own words

the indicator light around the LOCKOUT button will blink and “HOL” will appear on the dispenser display.

Questions
about HOL.

Can I clear HOL myself?
Press and hold ICE, LIGHT and LOCKOUT together for 3 seconds to turn Holiday Mode off.
Why does my KitchenAid dispenser show HOL and give no ice?
Holiday Mode is on and has disabled the levers. Holding ICE, LIGHT and LOCKOUT for three seconds turns it off.
Does HOL turn off the ice maker on a KitchenAid built-in?
The manual says the lights and ice maker stay off until Holiday Mode is turned off, if Max Cool was on first.
How do I tell HOL from a jammed KitchenAid dispenser?
With HOL the display shows the letters and the LOCKOUT ring blinks. A jam gives no such signal.

Still showing HOL?

Book with the code or the blink pattern written exactly as the ice maker shows it, the full model number, and whether there is any water on the floor — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
