What dr
actually means.

On U-Line's clear ice and craft ice models, dr on the display means the control thinks the door is open. The plunger switch that watches the door triggers the alert and a tone after the door has stood open for more than 5 minutes; in the error log the same event is stored as E0 or E9.

What to do when dr shows on the ice maker

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from U-Line's own guidance for dr on its ice makers. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Push the door fully closed and check that nothing in the bin, such as the scoop or a bag, is stopping it.

02

Look at the door gasket for a fold or tear that keeps the door from sealing.

03

If dr stays with the door sealed, book a visit so the door switch can be tested.

Cleared?

The ice maker is filling and dropping cubes again and no part was needed. If the same code returns during the next harvest, or water shows up on the floor again, book it as a new problem.

What not to do

dr is not a cooling or ice making report. It only means the control believes the door is open, which lets warm air melt the stored ice.

What you may
notice with it.

The ice maker problems dr tends to arrive with. Answer these at the ice maker before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

Something the ice maker was switched into, often without anyone noticing, rather than something that broke: ice turned off from the panel or by the wire arm lifted while reaching into the bin, a control lock, a Sabbath setting, a cleaning cycle still running, a reminder that the water filter is due. No part has worn out, and the ice maker's own buttons or arm put it right.

Every code on this site is taken from the manufacturer's documentation, never from a forum or a parts listing. U-Line 15-inch clear ice (HCL, OCL, ACP) and craft ice (RCC) models with the digital control. U-Line says all errors are logged in memory, but only the door error shows on the display with a tone; the others are read from the error log in service mode.

Questions
about dr.

Can I clear dr myself?
Push the door fully closed and check that nothing in the bin, such as the scoop or a bag, is stopping it.
Why does my U-Line ice maker beep and show dr?
The door switch reports the door as open, and after 5 minutes the control sounds a tone and shows dr. Closing the door firmly usually clears it.
Can a full ice bin keep a U-Line door from closing and cause dr?
Yes. Cubes piled at the front of the bin, or the scoop left in the wrong place, can hold the door just off its seal. Clear the edge of the bin and close the door again.
Are dr, E0 and E9 the same thing on a U-Line?
They describe the same condition. dr is what the display shows, while E0 and E9 are how the door-open events are stored in the service error log.

Back to your everyday

Still showing dr?

Book with the code or the blink pattern written exactly as the ice maker shows it, the full model number, and whether there is any water on the floor — when there is a code, that is where the diagnosis starts.
