What is particular

Dacor column freezers pair a standard ice maker with a Cocktail Ice maker that makes denser, larger cubes and takes longer to fill its bin. A slow Cocktail Ice side is often normal rather than a failure.

A Test button on the ice maker

Dacor's own diagnosis step is a Test button on the side of the ice maker, behind a cover held by screws, which chimes when pressed and again when the ice maker works. We use it to separate a failed ice maker from a water or control problem.

Ice maker switched off at the panel

Each ice maker is turned on or off by holding its button for 3 seconds, and an OFF indicator means ice making is disabled. A bumped button is one of the first things we rule out on a no-ice call.

A filter with a set life

The filter indicator blinks red after about 6 months or 300 gallons. An overdue filter can slow the fill and change the taste of the ice.

Repair or replace

A Dacor column built into the cabinetry is worth repairing when the ice maker, valve or filter head fails. Replacement enters the conversation only when the freezer itself has a major cooling failure.

Why is my Dacor Cocktail Ice maker slower than the regular one?
Dacor says the Cocktail Ice maker makes denser, larger cubes, so it takes longer to make ice. A slower bin on that side is expected.
How do I test the ice maker in my Dacor column freezer?
Remove the drawer cover and the ice maker cover, then press the blue Test button on the side of the ice maker. You should hear one chime when you press it and another if the ice maker is working.
Why did my new Dacor make discolored ice at first?
Dacor asks you to discard the first one or two buckets of ice to clear impurities from the water system. After that the ice should come out clear.
How do I turn a Dacor ice maker back on?
Press and hold the Ice Maker button for more than 3 seconds. If the indicator shows OFF, ice making is disabled until you switch it back on.
