Bertazzoni ice makers,
specifically.

Every Bertazzoni ice maker sold in the US sits in a freezer: the drawer of its French door and bottom-mount models, or the top of an 18- or 24-inch freezer column. Water on these units comes from a dispenser inside the fresh food side, so there is no door chute to jam.

What is particular
to Bertazzoni.

Ice comes from the freezer drawer of the French door and bottom-mount models and from the 18- and 24-inch freezer columns; the columns run a menu display, the freestanding units a button panel. The model decides which code list, which filter and which ice maker assembly apply.

Two display letters for ice

The 36-inch French door models RFD36FZNX and RFD36FZNW list EO for the ice maker and EE for the ice maker's sensor. The rest of the unit keeps cooling while either one shows, so an empty ice drawer may be the only other clue.

A 40 to 100 psi supply

Bertazzoni's French door manual wants a cold, potable line between 40 and 100 psi and suggests a booster pump where the house runs lower. A weak supply fills the mold slowly and gives thin cubes well before any letter appears on the panel.

Filter timers vary by model

The built-in columns flash and beep the water filter symbol on a counter, and the 36-inch French door lights its filter icon at 330 days and flashes it at 360. We read which counter your model runs before treating the light as a problem.

A rod decides the bin is full

The French door ice maker keeps harvesting until its ice detection rod touches ice in the box. Cubes frozen into a mound under the rod can end production early, so we empty and level the box before testing parts.

Parts

Filters, inlet valves and ice maker assemblies are specific to each Bertazzoni platform, and the French door manual itself points owners to a parts distributor for filters. An ice maker or sensor that is not in stock locally may be ordered after the first visit.

Repair or replace

EO or EE usually comes down to one ice maker assembly or one sensor, which is a small job next to replacing a built-in unit. Replacement is worth raising only when the cooling system has trouble of its own at the same time.

Questions about
Bertazzoni ice makers.

What is the difference between EO and EE on a Bertazzoni French door model?
Bertazzoni's table ties EO to the ice maker and EE to the ice maker's sensor. With either one showing, the unit goes on cooling and freezing, but the manual asks you to have it serviced. Both point at the ice maker in the freezer drawer rather than at the cooling system.
How long before a new Bertazzoni ice maker drops its first cubes?
The French door manual gives about 8 hours after power-up, and only once the freezer has reached its set temperature. After that, each cycle takes roughly 100 minutes and yields around ten cubes, so a full box takes a few days.
Why are the first cubes from a Bertazzoni freezer column misshapen?
After a new filter or a new water hookup, air is still working its way out of the line, and Bertazzoni says the first cubes may be irregular. Throw out the first full bin; if cubes are still odd after that, the water supply needs a look.
My Bertazzoni ice maker makes nothing and shows no code. What should I check?
Bertazzoni's own list starts with the ice making setting, then the water valve, kinks in the line, the connection and the pressure or a clogged filter. If those check out and the drawer is still empty, book a visit.
