What is particular
to Frigidaire.

Frigidaire sells the standard, Gallery and Professional French door lines, side-by-side and top-freezer models, and a small range of countertop ice makers. The model number shows whether an ice maker was built in, added as a kit or doubled.

Kits added after purchase

Many Frigidaire top-freezer models leave the factory without an ice maker, and Frigidaire notes most are installed separately. A kit that was added later needs its water line, valve and wiring checked as carefully as the ice maker itself.

A wire arm is the switch

On those top-freezer ice makers, a wire signal arm turns production on in the down position and off when lifted until it clicks. An arm caught in the up position is the most common reason for an empty bin.

Nugget ice with no water line

Frigidaire's countertop nugget ice maker is plugged in and filled by hand, with a self-clean cycle and a drain plug. Its problems come from the reservoir, the pump and scale, never from a house supply line.

A second ice maker on some French doors

Frigidaire lists French door models with a Dual Ice Maker and others that are 2nd Ice Maker Ready. We confirm which unit is failing before ordering, since the two use different parts.

Parts

Ice maker kits, water valves and filters for Frigidaire models are common stock items. Countertop ice makers have no manuals on the product page, so parts beyond simple items may be limited.

My Frigidaire freezer has no ice maker. Can one be added?
Many Frigidaire top-freezer models are built to take an ice maker kit, and Frigidaire says most are installed separately. The kit also needs a water supply line and valve, which we check during installation.
Why does my Frigidaire make a loud chattering noise with no water line?
Frigidaire explains that the fill valve chatters when the ice maker is on without a water supply. Turn the ice maker off, or lift the wire arm on a top-freezer model, until a line is connected.
How much ice should a Frigidaire in-freezer ice maker make?
Frigidaire puts normal output at about 2 to 3 pounds a day depending on use. Far less than that usually points to a clogged filter, a kinked line or a freezer set too warm.
Does a Frigidaire countertop nugget ice maker need plumbing?
No. It plugs in and you fill its reservoir by hand, and it has a self-clean cycle plus a drain plug for emptying. A unit that stops making nuggets usually needs cleaning or has a pump or cooling problem.
