What is particular
to Liebherr.

We service Liebherr integrated freezers and side-by-side combinations with a plumbed IceMaker, and older combined models with a tank-fed IceMaker. The type designation on the rating plate tells us which setup is fitted.

Plumbed or tank-fed

Current US Liebherr freezers connect the IceMaker to the house water line, while older combined models like the CS 1640 draw from a tank you refill. We check which one is fitted before chasing a valve that may not exist.

The IceTower

The integrated SIF5181 freezer stores ice in an IceTower that holds 12.5 lbs. of cubes on telescopic rails. A jammed tray or a separator set to a small amount can look like an ice maker that has slowed.

MaxIce for heavy use

Liebherr's MaxIce function raises production to just over 3 lbs. of ice a day on the SIF5181. When it is off, normal output can seem low during a party.

IceMaker off, appliance on

Liebherr lets you switch off just the IceMaker and keep the freezer running, even with the water line connected. An IceMaker switched off by accident is one of the first things we rule out.

Parts

IceMaker modules, water valves and electronics are matched to the Liebherr type and service number. Many parts ship from Liebherr's parts sales and may need to be ordered.

Repair or replace

Integrated Liebherr freezers are built in and are normally repaired when the IceMaker or its valve fails. Replacement is worth discussing for an older model whose IceMaker parts are no longer supplied.

Can I run my Liebherr freezer without using the IceMaker?
Yes. Liebherr says you can switch off just the IceMaker without disconnecting the water line, and the freezer keeps running.
What does a blinking lamp on an older Liebherr IceMaker mean?
On tank-fed models, the manual ties it to the water tank being low or not inserted correctly. Refill the tank and slide it all the way back.
How much ice does a Liebherr IceTower hold?
The IceTower in the SIF5181 holds 12.5 lbs. of ice cubes, and MaxIce raises production to just over 3 lbs. a day.
