Monogram ice makers,
specifically.

Monogram's ice comes from built-in side-by-sides with a through-the-door dispenser, from column freezers whose ice maker sits above the top drawer, and from 15-inch panel-ready undercounter units. Built-in installation means the water line and valve are often hidden in cabinetry, which shapes every visit.

The Monogram lineup

What is particular
to Monogram.

Monogram ice makers sit in built-in side-by-sides, French door and column freezers, and in 15-inch panel-ready undercounter units shared with the GE family. Column, side-by-side and undercounter controls each report differently.

Column ice lives above the top drawer

In a Monogram column freezer the ice maker is above the first drawer and the bin rides in that drawer. If the bin is out for more than 2 minutes, Monogram asks for the ice maker to be switched off so cubes do not spill.

The display counts filter life

Column controls show ORDER WATER FILTER at 90 percent of filter life and FILTER EXPIRED at 100 percent. The filter sits in the case top, and the first bin after a change may be misshapen and should be thrown away.

Sabbath Mode stops the ice maker

On columns, Sabbath Mode turns the ice maker off with the lights and alarms, and exits on its own after 96 hours. A column with no new ice during a holiday is often just this.

A dispenser that can be locked

Built-in side-by-side glass-touch dispensers lock with a 3-second touch on CONTROL LOCK. A locked panel looks like a dead dispenser even though the ice maker is full.

Parts

Column and built-in ice maker parts are specific to those platforms and may need to be ordered after the first visit. Access to the valve and line often depends on the cabinetry around the unit.

Repair or replace

Monogram built-ins and columns are sized to custom openings, which makes repair the usual choice for an ice maker, valve or fan. Replacement is worth discussing only when a sealed system failure meets an older unit.

Questions about
Monogram ice makers.

Why is the first bin of ice odd after a filter change on my Monogram column?
Air in the line spurts water into the ice maker, and Monogram says the first bin may be misshapen or discolored. Discard it and allow 6 to 12 hours.
What water pressure does a Monogram column ice maker need?
The manual gives a range of 275 to 827 kPa, which is about 40 to 120 psi.
Why won't my Monogram built-in dispense ice?
Check the control lock first, then the ice maker switch and the water supply, then cubes frozen to the feeler arm.
Can hollow cubes on a Monogram column come from the filter?
Yes. Monogram lists a clogged filter, or a reverse osmosis system connected with the filter still in place, as causes of small or hollow cubes.
